Bar ‘n’ Bus is a Christian charity delivering professional, community-based Youth Work to engage and support local young people.  Our team is made up of full time youth workers, students and almost 25 volunteers working across our programmes.  We are a dynamic and growing charity, building new opportunities and breaking new ground.  We value openness, a willingness to get stuck in and personal passion to see young people thrive alongside formal qualifications and experience.

Youth Work Manager

We are seeking to appoint a Youth Work Manager to lead our amazing youth work team as we expand our youth work delivery in South Essex.

The Youth Work Manager will support a team of full time and part time youth workers and volunteers, lead on training and safeguarding, and develop opportunities for youth voice and participation.

  • Location: South Essex Office
  • Contract: Full Time, 37hrs/week, Permanent

Youth Work Team – Multiple Roles available across Basildon, Billericay, Wickford and Rayleigh

We are currently able to expand our youth work team dramatically with multiple full and part time roles as we develop new programmes in Billericay & Wickford and deepen our work in Basildon and Rayleigh.

Youth Development Workers

Youth Development Workers pioneer, develop and co-ordinate youth work provision with a specific area of work. They recruit, train and lead youth work teams to sustain and grow this work as well as networking with churches, schools, voluntary and statutory agencies, and local authorities in order to increase impact.

Community Youth Workers

Community Youth Workers delivery face-to-face youth work programmes with young people, proactively creating new projects and working alongside the wider youth work team to strategically develop youth work provision. If a qualification is not already held, Community Youth Workers will complete a Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work Practice to obtain national recognition as a youth work practitioner.

Youth Support Workers

Youth Support Workers work directly with young people through assisting in the face-to-face delivery of the Bar ‘n’ Bus youth work programme alongside Youth Development Workers who co-ordinate key areas of work. Alongside their face-to-face delivery, Youth Support Workers complete a Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work Practice to obtain national JNC Youth Support Worker status.

  • Contract: Part Time (18.5 hrs/wk), Permanent
  • Salary: £24,027 to £26,008 pro rata depending on qualifications and experience (Pay Review Pending)

Bar ’n’ Bus Trustees – We are looking for a person to join our Board of Trustees, who has a passion for developing work with young people in the communities of SE Essex. As a registered charity, motivated from Christian principles, we have a growing programme of engagement activities with 11-18 year olds to help them face the challenges of life and flourish as fulfilled individuals who contribute to society.
